Hello Tripawds!
Hello there…..my new name is “Guinness’. I am a 16 week old Border Collie puppy who has already had a pretty difficult life. The Police found me in a closed cardboard box in an alley in Indiana. Thank goodness is was a nice night out and the policeman had his windows down while patrolling through the alley. He heard me making some noise and at first he thought I was a baby. He opened the box and saw me laying inside barely moving due to my back left leg that was hurting really bad. Well the policeman took me to the hospital and after a few tests, I overheard the doctor tell some people that my leg is pretty much shattered and that it would be better if they just take it off. I am just getting used to walking and running and now I am going to have to try to do this with three legs??? I tried to tell them that I was hit with a blunt object but before I could say anything, the doctor said it himself.
Well, they did the surgery and thankfully I didn’t feel too much of anything. I was very groggy and just kind of slept. This woman who works at the Animal Hospital kept taking my picture and petting me. I think she sent the picture to her boyfriend because the next day this guy came in and he kept talking to me and petting me. I must have made a good impression because a few days later, that nice woman took me home and that guy was there. Once I got there I was scared since I wasn’t the only animal there. There was another dog they call “Bruno” who kind of looks like me in a way. I heard my owner (John) say to someone that Bruno was half Border Collie and half English Pointer. And then they had this other animal that I am not too sure about yet. It’s a cat that they call “Flynn”. Well, Flynn is weird!! He’s not too sure about me either but I hope in time we can be friends. However, Bruno and I are already pals!
I have been living here now for about two weeks and today I went back with the woman to the hospital and they removed those itchy stitches where my leg was and hopefully I won’t have to wear that stupid cone thing they keep putting around my neck…..I want to lick and scratch that leg SO BAD!!! The doctors say I am doing GREAT and actually, I feel pretty good and am moving around and running as if I had that leg still. I am sooooo thankful that these people took me in and I told my owner (John) to go ahead and let people hear my story and share some fun things about me as time goes on so I am sure you will be hearing from him in the future. As for me….I just want to be a puppy that is loved and taken care of.
Well I hope you follow me and see what I am up to! I look forward to hearing John read your comments to me and I hope my story inspires other dogs like me!!
WOOF!
